Monument
Milan-San Remo 2027
Saturday 20 March 2027
Overview
Milan-San Remo opens the Monument season on Saturday 20 March 2027.
Nicknamed La Primavera, it is the longest one-day race on the professional calendar, at almost 300 kilometres. After the Lombardy plain and the Turchino pass, the peloton follows the Ligurian Riviera all the way to San Remo.
It is the most open Classic of the year: the sprinters can win if the peloton stays together, while the puncheurs try their luck on the final climbs. It often all comes down to the last twenty kilometres.

The key climbs
The Capi
Three small headlands along the coast (Capo Mele, Capo Cervo, Capo Berta) that start to wear down the legs before the finale.
The Cipressa
A climb of a few kilometres, around twenty kilometres from the finish. The climbers' teams often set a very high pace there to drop the sprinters.
The Poggio
The final obstacle, short and not very steep, followed by a technical descent into San Remo. This is where most editions are decided.
The Via Roma
The historic finishing straight, in the centre of San Remo.
A bit of history
Milan-San Remo has been held since 1907. Eddy Merckx holds the record with seven wins.
In 2026, Tadej Pogačar finally won it, in a sprint ahead of Tom Pidcock, after crashing before the Cipressa. He had finished in the top 5 in each of his four previous appearances.
