Major Classic
Gent-Wevelgem 2027
Sunday 28 March 2027
Overview
Gent-Wevelgem takes place on Sunday 28 March 2027. Since 2026, the race has officially been called In Flanders Fields and starts in Middelkerke, on the Belgian coast, before finishing in Wevelgem.
The route crosses the wind-exposed plains of West Flanders before a loop through the Heuvelland hills, on the French border. Depending on the wind and the Kemmelberg, the win is decided in a sprint or within a small group.
The name In Flanders Fields is a reminder that the race passes through the former battlefields of the First World War.

The key passages
The Kemmelberg
The most feared climb of the race: cobbled, very steep on its hardest section, and usually climbed twice. The last ascent comes around thirty kilometres from the finish.
Crosswinds
On the open roads of the coast and the Flemish plain, the wind can split the peloton into several groups long before the bergs.
